BIG BOOK BUZZER BEATER

Get ready for a dynamic literacy competition designed to celebrate reading, deepen comprehension, and build community around great books. This national competition for students in grades 4-8 begins in September and ends in April, promising year-long motivation and engagement with reading and writing.

Student teams of 5+ participants read five books across the school year to prepare, then qualifying teams compete in the Book Buzzer Beater, where they answer book-related trivia questions written by the OWAAT team. The Book Buzzer Beater is a virtual quiz-show style event emceed by Kwame Alexander and featuring surprise special guest authors throughout.
